Online Users Warned About "Porn-Napping"
School leaders have been advised to be on the lookout for "cyber-squatters"
who have reclaimed Internet domains that have been abandoned by legitimate
groups, including some in the education area. Among the Web sites whose
domains are being used in this way are sites previously operated by the 21st
Century Teacher Network and the Nebraska Department of Education.
The Online Internet Institute has created a URL to encourage Internet users
to report this practice when they encounter it, so that users can be alerted
and the sites blocked and filtered, if users choose to do so. See
oii.org/html/porn-napping.html
for details.
